Swimming Pool Mosaic

Alison was commissioned to produce a mosaic to fill the area around the circular steps into the swimming pool.

The mosaic sits above the water line.

The pool is situated in an established walled garden facing a beautiful greenhouse surrounded by wood and parkland.

June 2011 before installation

The mosaic was designed and made off site. 

It was a huge project that took a lot longer than expected due to the complicated nature of the design. 

Each tile was cut by hand and the edges were ground down to ensure it was safe to walk over in bare feet.

The mosaic was glued onto fibre glass mesh and then cut into sections so it was easier to handle for installation.

Each section was labelled and fixed in place using a pool mosaic adhesive and grouted to match the paving surrounding the pool.
